Not sure what to say?

Most enviable mix of comedy, curiosity, and caring. His passing is so unfair to the rest of us. Never had a better housemate.

Reminder that a celebration of Tom's life will be held this Saturday, April 28, from 3 to 5 pm at OEA - 6900 SW Atlanta in Tigard (Just of I-5 - exit 293). Hope to see you there. -- Laurie and friends

Tom-I am really going to miss you and everything you have taught me!!!God bless another angel is in heaven Tony Montgomery, Portland, Oregon

Our friendship goes back almost "50" years as freshman at RHS. I thank him for the memories I have as his high school "girl friend" and our lifetime friendship. He will be missed by so many, our RHS reunions will not be the same. My thoughts and prayers with everyone at this very sad time. I am truly blessed to have known Tom.

The loss of a classmate, friend touches all of us that knew Tom. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.I was very sorry to hear of this great loss.

Tom was a great neighbor and was absolutely hilarious. He attended a lot of my brother's dance performances in Portland and helped re-build our deck more than once. Whenever he came over for dinner we knew it would be a late night because he was so engaging and easy to converse with. He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. We were students together at Willamette University and good friends then.He was kind, intelligent and funny. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Sharon Usher Sacramento CA

Can't begin to recount the many experiences and adventures I shared with Tom Whelan over fifty years, but here's one: Upon returning early from a planned four-day spearfishing trip to central Oregon in the summer of 1965, Phil, who as everyone who knew her called his fantastic mother, said, "Since you weren't gone long enough to catch many fish, did you meet any interesting people?" As matter-of-factly and dead-pan as could be he replied that "Yes, hardly worth mentioning, but we ran into and...
