Thurston “Tommy” Thompson, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 14 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Tommy was born and raised in Winchester, NH, the ninth of thirteen children of Grover and Rose Thompson. He proudly served in Europe during World II as a Sergeant for the Army Medical Corp. He married the former Emily Zabludowski in 1946 and moved to Feeding Hills, MA. For 30 years he was a cameraman, film editor and engineer for WWLP Chanel 22. A former umpire, he was an avid baseball fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed playing softball with the Western Mass Relics league in Ludlow but had to give it up at age 86 due to a bad back. He was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills. Tommy was predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years Emily, brothers Merton, Lynn, Maxwell, Eldon, Thurlon, Lee and Hollis and sisters Lyle Robb, Velda Magee and Beryle Thyng. He is survived by his son Ken Thompson and his wife Louise, his daughter Janet Shannon and her husband Gary, five grandchildren Cyndi Harvey and husband David, Megan Shannon, Katie Shannon, Mike Thompson and Heather Thompson. He is also survived by his brother Elliot Thompson and sister Erdine Thompson. The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 9:00am with Liturgy in Sacred Heart Church, Feeding Hills at 10:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4:00-7:00pm. Special “Thanks” to Heritage Hall and Beacon Hospice for their loving care of Tommy. Flowers are welcome but please consider donations to Sacred Heart Church, 1061 Springfield Street, Feeding Hills, MA 01030.
