Timothy “Tim” J. Akey, age 63, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, surrounded by his family.

Tim is survived by his children: Eric (Maria) Akey, Michael (Dayna) Akey, Christopher and David Akey; 3 grandchildren: Landon, Emmajean, and Skylar; brothers: Paul Akey, Kenneth (Sherry) Akey; sisters: Carolyn (Ron) Woods, Rebecca (Pat) Williams, and Linda (Robert) Parkhurst.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Teresa Akey.

Tim was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.  He was a loving father, Boy Scout troop leader, and equestrian. In his early twenties, Tim owned several horses and trail rode them often. He shared his passion with his sons when they were old enough to ride. His love for his sons and his passion for horses made him a great troop leader for Cub Scouts and a leader for Boy Scouts Troop 48, in Crown Point Indiana. Tim's love for the outdoors meant he would often walk for miles, taking in all the beauty and splendor nature offers.

Not sure what to say?

Such a struggle you've had my brother, but you always will be my big brother. I hope you are at "peace" and with mom. You will be loved and missed tremendously. Love you
Carolyn

My thoughts and prayers to Tims family.

Deepest sympathy to the Akey family. Seems like yesterday how I would look forward to playing with all of those kids. Rest in Peace, Tim.

Dearest Cousin,

Big laugh, big smile, happy face, stay awhile.
Swimming pool, kick the can, fire flies out, we ran.
Dodging bats, in midnight sky, run run run, duck n hide.
Costumes, Plays, performances too, see a white shag canine plus tippy canoe. (needed a rhyming word)"-)
Ken, Sherry, Linda, Becky, and Paul, love, laughter, these memories call.
Tim, the oldest, responsibilities await, reminded often, these gnarly mates.
He left too soon, this...

I didn't know Tim personally but I know Paul and I'm sure Tim had a heart of gold just like his brother. I'm so sorry for your loss and pray that God will keep you all surrounded with his love.

Eric, Mike, Chris, and David, I know this won't be news to you but; Your dad was a great leader and friend, always there to help in any way. He will be dearly missed but we are all better for having known him. Tim, See you at the camp fire my friend. Sleep well.

So sorry to hear of this loss. Tim was a great leader with Troop 48 and I was glad to have him as an assistant. He will be missed.

-Drew Morton, Scoutmaster, Troop 48

So sorry to hear of your loss. Remembering all of the Akey family at this sad time.
