The Talker in a Big Family
Timothy E. Reilly was the toastmaster, the speechmaker, the mayor of the family - the gregarious and easygoing fourth of six children in a clan that counts 48 first cousins on his mother's side alone.

He made it his business to know them all; and he loved nothing more, his siblings say, than giving everyone else a great time.

A vice president at Marsh & McLennan, Mr. Reilly spent little on himself.

At 40, he lived in what had once been his grandmother's one-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn Heights, still furnished with her old couch, table and chairs. He skied, flawlessly, in boots held together with duct tape.

He spent his money on his family and on taking people out to dinner and picking up the tab at the bar.

After he died, his sister, Maureen, created a Web page in his honor. The message board brims with letters from cousins and friends. In one, a cousin recalls how Mr. Reilly had saved him from suicide, then helped him through his hospitalization, regularly driving 90 minutes each way after work to bring clothes, books, cigarettes and the desire to live.

"His outpouring of love was the life preserver that kept me afloat in my hour of greatest need and deepest pain," the cousin wrote.

He added later, "He made me believe in myself. He made me happy to be alive."

Not sure what to say?

On October 5, 2017, I visited the WTC memorial
for the first time. I noticed a white rose stuck in one of the name panels. I wandered over and saw that it was for Timothy Reilly. Today is his birthday. My name is Dennis Reilly. I immediately felt a kinship with Tim. I read his obit and he truly is a Reilly. God Bless him.

My prayers today go to the Reilly family, and the soul of Tim that lives on in all that knew him.

I was privileged to participate in the 2014 2 Million Bikers to DC Rally and to ride for Timothy E. Reilly. May God bless and comfort his family.

I just so happen to see his name on CBS on the wall clicked on it

Was watching TV show on 9/11, thinking of you, hope ur in a great place.

Life as we all once knew it has never been the same since we lost Tim. I've yet to meet anyone with the "positive" energy Timmy's whole being encompassed. What a gift we were all given having had Tim in our lives.

Such a nice tribute.

Thinking of you, your family, and friends today (9/11/12) but remember you playing, and swimming, at O.B.C.

To the family, and friends, of Timmy - who I think of today (9/11/12) but remember playing, and swimming, at O.B.C. My heart is with you all. Margaret Anne "Peg" Donohue
