Honaker Funeral Home, Inc. - Slidell Obituary

Timothy Cyr, of New Orleans, LA, passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 38 years old. Born on August 21, 1987, Tim was a brilliant, uniquely gifted soul whose presence lit up every room he entered. He had a way of seeing possibilities where others saw limits and he shared his talents generously.

To his family, he was more than a brother and a son; he was a confidant, a co-conspirator in laughter, and a steady source of love. His unique perspective on life challenged those around him to think deeper, dream bigger, and appreciate the beauty in all things. Tim was a true genius, especially in technology. He had an instinctive understanding of how systems worked and the discipline to master the details. He built computers, solved problems quickly, and was the person others relied on when something needed to be fixed, explained, or done right. He loved gaming and the way it connected him with friends near and far. Tim carried a spark that inspired others to keep going— reminding us that “thousands of candles can be lit by a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened”. Tim’s light was never something he kept for himself. He shared it freely, quietly, and without asking anything in return. Every laugh he sparked, every moment he brightened, every person he encouraged is a flame still burning because of him. Though his own candle went out far too soon, the glow he created continues in all of us who were lucky enough to be touched by his kindness and his spirit.

Tim will be lovingly remembered by his family. He is survived by his parents, David and Wendy Rogers; his sisters Heather Rogers and Rachel Milanowski; and brother-in-law Chris Milanowski. He is also survived by his grandparents Susan Rogers, Chris Morris, and Roger Cyr, and by his close family members Brandi Rogers, Carly Rogers, Paula Phillips, Nathan Phillips, Michael Harkins and Charlotte Harkins. Tim will also be deeply missed by his friends at SGI and Church of the King.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Services at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 12:00 P.M.

Not sure what to say?

Tim had a very infectious personality and will be missed by everyone who crossed paths with him. His fervor for life and curiosity to learn things are an inspiration to all. I’ll remember our last meal together eating hotpot where he told me about his world travels in Korea/China, his favorite things to do such as gaming and how much he loved his family - parents and siblings.

I am saddened on the loss of Tim, who I considered a friend and not just another co-worker. Tim seemed to always cheerful and upbeat. He was a very bright computer IT Tech and was always ready to help. Even if he was busy he made time to help out. The world will be a lesser place without him.
Rest in Peace Friend,
Nick Musmeci

He was the staple of my 20's helping me though everything a girl from a small town had no idea about. He always put his friends first and would help people out probably too much. He will always be one of the most special people in my life even thoug

Tim and I at the Crawfish festival

Tim carried me through some of the most painful seasons of my life. He was my best friend and the love of my life, and for more than three years, He was always there for me. He was steady, present, and unwavering.

The way he cared for me is difficult to put into words. He helped me in ways that truly changed my life and, on more than one occasion, quite literally saved it. Tim was a true hero in my eyes. His kindness, compassion, and selflessness guided me onto a better path and...

Your light will burn on within all of us as long as we are breathing you will never be forgotten

My prayers are with you always. Susie has been a friend for over 60 years and I know the loss is very heavy on her heart. David, my prayers are with you also. The loss of a child is the most painful thing in ones life. God Bless all of you,

Tim was always one of the guys we knew we could count on to be there when a new game everyone got roped into playing would come out. He was one of the constants. He brought a lighthearted chaos to our friendship that made everyone take things just a little less seriously. My life is better for knowing and having gotten to meet him.

Our online friend group will have a very big hole in it the next time a game comes out that we all get roped into playing.

I hope you've...

I am deeply moved by the beautiful description of Tim, and the reminder that he will remain in the hearts and memories of all of those he touched. The impact of anyone's life isn't measured in years, instead it is by the number of people who were enriched because they knew them. Tim will be remembered and loved by many.
