Cambridge Timothy Dean Frakes, 49, died peacefully in the early hours of Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls with his family by his side. He had fought a courageous, four year battle with brain cancer. Born Wednesday, October 3, 1962, in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was the son of Paul Dean Frakes of Titusville, Florida and Nancy C. (Clark) Moja of New Smyrna, Florida. With a dad in the military, the family lived in several locations, settling in Titusville, Florida where Tim graduated from high school. He joined the United States Air Force and received training as an electric power production specialist. He worked at various power plants including a stint in Alaska. After the service he moved back to Titusville where he worked for Orlando Utilities. Drawn by the cooler climate and the natural beauty of the Northeast, in 1998 Tim moved his family north. First he worked at a power plant in Corinth and then for Plug Power in Latham. He was working in boiler room at Samaritan Hospital in Troy when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After hearing that Cambridge had a highly recommended school district a house was purchased and the family settled in. From 1999 on, Cambridge has been home. Tim loved to be with his family and friends. He made many trips to Florida and Missouri to be with them. He had a big heart and never knew a stranger. He will be remembered as an outstanding man and a tremendous father, Sarah"s, Sally's and Seth's HERO! He was a coach for the Cambridge Girls Softball League and was a fan at all their sporting events. Tim was very proud of being an AA member for the past eleven years. He never hesitated to share his experiences with others, especially if he thought it would help them. Along with his parents, Tim is survived by three children, Sarah E. Frakes of Schaghticoke, Sally Jo Frakes and Seth E. Frakes, both of Buskirk; the mother of his children, Alison J. Frakes of Buskirk; four siblings, Nancy Storey (Dr. Mark Storey) and Joseph C. Frakes (Debi) both of Titusville, Ted Frakes (Lynn) of California and Thomas-Tim's twin (Jennifer) who lives in Asia; many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog , a Puggle named John Deere aka JD. A private burial service with military honors will be held at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville At Tim's request a celebration to remember and honor his life is being held on Friday, June 29, 2012 beginning at 5 PM at the Capt. Maxson American Legion Post in the pole barn. Please come, bring a dish to pass and a story to share about this "High Tech Red Neck" with the big heart who liked to laugh. He will be missed and never forgotten.
