Spinelli - Ricciuti Funeral Home - Ansonia Obituary

DERBY: Timothy A. LaFlamme, age 56, peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday morning December 23, 2023, in the comfort of his home, with his wife by his side, following a valiant eleven-year battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Betsy J. Courtemanche LaFlamme.

Tim was born in Derby on October 9, 1967, loving son of Raymond LaFlamme of Branford and Rose DeHart LaFlamme of North Port, FL. He graduated from Ansonia High School in 1985 and worked as a self-employed carpenter. Tim had a passion for all sports, especially football and hockey. He played ice hockey from a young age into his twenties. His favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and Colorado Avalanche. Tim was also an avid fresh water fisherman, where he participated in many tournaments and a member of Bass Masters. He and his wife Betsy loved to travel and took many vacations throughout the United States and Europe creating many lasting memories. Tim also enjoyed trying his luck at the casinos and with the lottery. He will lovingly be missed by all that had the fortune of knowing him.

In addition to his wife Betsy and parents, Raymond, and Rose, he leaves to cherish his memory, a sister, Jennifer A. Thorburn and brother-in-law Mark of Denham Springs, Louisiana, a nephew, Lake Thorburn, a niece, Riley Thorburn, both of Louisiana, great-niece, Blakeleigh Thorburn, special family that he held dear to his heart, Andreau and Tabytha DeHart, his beloved canine buddy, Neo, and feline friends, Katie, and Ali, as well as several cousins and dear friends.

All are invited to pay their respects and greet the family on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. He will privately be buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. Contributions in Tim’s memory may be made directly to the Ansonia Animal Shelter, 1 North Division Street, Ansonia, CT 06401. Not sure what to say?

Timmy my cousin, may you rest in peace! You are one of Gods Angels. May he wrap his arms around you!

Although we never met, I feel like our paths crossed many times through my Hockey Fights Cancer charity. I proudly wore my HFC t-shirt and sweatshirt sporting the words "I Fight For Tim" at meetings and during the NY Rangers' HFC Night each year (like my son in CO, I learned that you were an Avs fan!). You have been in my nightly prayers to our Lord ever since I became aware of your courageous battle. RIP Tim, you will remain in my prayers to Heaven...

Betsy, Jen and Rose I am so sorry for this tremendous loss. I know words won't help ease the grief. Hugs to you all and take care.
