James A. McAlister Funerals & Cremation Obituary

Timothy Dwayne "Timmy" Linker, 63, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 12, 2021. The relatives and friends of Timmy Linker are invited to attend a memorial gathering in his honor 6:00 PM Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the St. Andrew’s Parks and Playgrounds Brinker Picnic Shelter. His Funeral Service will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, September 16, 2021 at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 413 Geddes Avenue, Charleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Timothy Dwayne Linker, age 63 of Charleston SC, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2021. He was born on April 30, 1958 to late Glenn and Jeannette Linker. He is survived by his brothers Ricky Linker and Chris Linker (wife Alicia) and sister Cynthia Sunde as well as his nieces Milena Clemson, Bree Linker and Kali Sunde and his nephew Hunt Linker.

Timmy graduated from the College of Charleston and while he worked several jobs over the years, his true passion was working with the lowcountry youth through baseball, basketball and football.

Timmy was a volunteer coach at St. Andrews Parks and Playground for 40+ years, as well as working with both St. Andrew’s High School and the current West Ashley High School. He held many roles at each – Athletic Director, Scorekeeper, Announcer, Umpire/Referee - and loved every minute of his time on the field/court. Over the years, the youth he had the pleasure to coach have become coaches themselves, quoting Timmy as their inspiration.

Timmy loved his church, St. Mark United Methodist, and his church family. He was a member of the men’s club, a youth leader and a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. His love of sports overflowed to the church as he coached the youth and men’s basketball teams for many years.

Timmy was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor and a lover of all animals, especially his two dogs Ally and Ace. His kind heart seen in everything he touched and all were blessed to have known him.

In lieu of flowers, please considering donating to the Timmy Linker Scholarship fund through the St. Andrews Parks and Playground.

Not sure what to say?

A year has gone by and I still miss Timmy very much. He was such a joy to be around!

What a great lifetime friend! Timmy is one of those competitive, spirited coches who was passionate in how he coached and celebrated in his players successes. But he was so much more. He had a big heart, a desire to do his best, and and he enjoyed his life. May God Bless Timmy and his family for all the love they shared and the joy he brought to all of us! You will always be remebered for the positive influence you shared with all of us!

I have known Timmy Linker since we were at C.E.Williams and when were at St. Andrews High School. He was a great friend of mine. I used to see him at a rental store here in Mt Pleasant. I am praying for the entire Linker family...He will surely be missed.......

Cynthia, Ricky, Chris & all the Linker family,
I'm saddened to read of Timmy's passing. Whenever he & I crossed paths, Timmy always extended his hand to shake mine with that genuinely warm smile of his. I'll always remember that abt him. My sincere & heartfelt sympathy for the loss you must feel.
Also, what an incredibly beautiful video!

My heart goes out to the Linker family. I felt blessed to have known Timmy and honored to have taught Sunday school with him. You will be missed.

I first met Timmy at my daughter, Lisa’s wedding to Ken Smith. Timmy was one of the wonderful groomsmen. Years later I watched Timmy coach my grandsons, KL and Mac Smith in baseball for many years. Awesome is the only word. I got to know him better once I joined St. Mark. What a truly wonderful Godly man he was. He will be soooooo missed.

WE HAVE LOSS A WONDERFUL PERSON. TIMMY AND I COACHED AGAINST EACH OTHER FOR MANY YEARS. HE WAS ALWAYS THE SAME, WINNING OR LOSING, HE WOULD ALWAYS GREET YOU WITH A SMILE. SO MANY KIDS OWE HIM SO MUCH. MY SON, DAVID PLAYED FOR HIM AND HAD GREAT RESPECT FOR THE WAY HE COACHED AND CARED FOR HIS PLAYERS. I WLL MISS YOU MY FRIEND.

I'm so glad to read all the comments praising Timmy. He was a great coach and one of the best Sunday School teachers I've ever known. We had a great time ribbing each other. He will be missed.
