Timothy Shaw Pendergast woke early on July 9, 2024, struggling to breathe. His wife, Paula, called 911, but by the time they arrived, he was fading and soon he stopped breathing and the EMTs could not get a pulse. Not sure what to say?

Mr Pendergast taught and coached me during my post-graduate year at Canterbury. He stood out as faculty member with high standards and expectations in the class room and on the field. He made a very positive impact on me that year, and I was fortunate to have known him. I was glad to reconnect with him when my son started youth lacrosse in 2015 and to let him know how I felt about him. Even though it was just email, I could feel his excitement with the "lax talk".

My goodness, how I had one more fishing trip with Tim! On the Allagash Wilderness Waterway in Maine

I played lacrosse against and with Tim here in Southern Ca. In a masters game about 6 years ago I was playing defensive middie in front of Tim. An opposing middie fell in the crease and got called for it. He complained that he was pushed and as he got up Tim pushed him down again and yelled, "If your going to come into MY crease there will be no whining!"

Tim was one of the kindest, most generous souls! He made my Harvard graduate school experience memorable through lacrosse and fishing. We swapped fishing stories only a few months ago. Tim will be missed.

Tim was my lacrosse coach at Harvard. He helped me through a difficult time with words of support and encouragement. Everyone loved and respected him. I was always amazed how he could be so soft-spoken, pensive and calm yet so competitive and vocal when it was game time. A terrific coach, leader and human being. He will be missed. He was one of the good guys. I will pray for his family.
