Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Homes - Blanchester Chapel Obituary

Timothy Stewart Stansbury (Age 13) and resident of Loveland, Ohio passed away on June 22, 2012 in Thorung Phedi, Nepal, after being struck by a falling rock and killed instantly while hiking the Himalayas (Annapurna Conservation Area) with his Father and younger brother. Timothy was born in Scottsdale, Arizona on July 26, 1998, the oldest son of Rebecca Diane and Trevor Hunt Stansbury. He is survived by his younger brother and two sisters, Jonathan Paul (12), Hannah Elizabeth (9), and Rachel Claire (6). Having just completed the eighth grade at Loveland Middle School, Timothy was preparing to begin his freshman year at Loveland High School. His best friend was Mr. Mark Geiger of Batavia. A proud member of the Loveland High School Marching Band, Timothy took great pride in participating in the 2011 season and he greatly appreciated the acceptance and camaraderie he felt from fellow band members. A member of the mellophone section, Timothy was an accomplished musician whose waning interest in the piano was more than compensated by his love and enthusiasm for the French horn. Timothy was an avid reader, eloquent writer, outdoorsman and lover of world history. A few of his favorite Loveland teachers were Mr. Federman and Mr. Sharpless, Mrs. Hester, Mrs. Weber and Mrs. Schulok. As a youngster, he also received great care and nurturing from Casey Reed and other loving teachers at the Children's Meeting House Montessori School in Loveland, Ohio. Timothy loved camping and hiking and came to revere his Young Men and Scouting Leaders, Nathan Day, Eric Brown, Christopher Thunhorst and Sean Blankley. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Timothy was serving as a Deacons Quorum President at the time of his death and was anxiously looking forward to spending time with his quorum buddies at Camp Friedlander this summer. Timothy was an exceptionally passionate, creative, intelligent and warm hearted young man. He loved history and especially ancient Greek and Roman History and was a voracious reader, often sneaking books to bed and even into the shower. There was even a time when he was seen reading a book as he went about delivering the Loveland Herald on his paper route, explaining why he would occasionally miss a delivery or two to neighborhood customers. His love of the outdoors was something he shared with his father, grandfather, uncles and cousins and led to many wonderful memories with them – hiking the Appalachian Trail in Tennessee and North Carolina and summiting 14, 000 ft. Mt. Missouri in Colorado in 2011. His love of the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for people and country. He showed great tenderness towards others and came to feel a particular affection for Mrs. June Morris of Mason, OH, Mr. Douglas Armstrong of Loveland, OH, and his grandparents and great grandparents in NC, CA and AZ. Timothy's greatest ambition was to serve a mission for his church and to eventually enlist as a member of the United States Marine Corps. It is the conviction of his loved ones that as noble as these aspirations were, Timothy's destiny was to serve in loftier realms. Timothy is survived by his afore mentioned parents and siblings; his Grandparents, Russell and Leonore Butcher of Newport Beach, CA; Connie and John Flanders of South Pasadena, CA; Gary and Judi Stansbury of Pagosa Springs, CO; his Great-Grandmothers, Lois Butcher of Long Beach, CA; Dorothy Welborn of Prescott, AZ; and Celia Barfield of Asheville, NC. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, June 29 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 8250 Cornell Rd. (corner of Cornell and Snider Road in Montgomery). The Visitation is from 4:30-6:45 pm. The funeral service will begin at 7:00pm. All are welcome. A private Burial will follow on Saturday for immediate family only.
