Timothy Van Dorn

Timothy "Skinny" Van Dorn (1945-2010) CEDAR FALLS- Tim "Skinny" Van Dorn, 64, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, August 16, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center. He was born October 17, 1945 in Waterloo, the son of Lyle and Dorothy (Holland) Van Dorn. He married Genevieve "Genny" Christen on February 28, 1970 in Waterloo. He graduated from Waterloo Columbus High School in 1963 and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was employed with Cedar Falls Fire Department, retiring in July 1994. Survivors include: his wife, Genny; a son, Todd (Jill) Van Dorn of Cedar Falls; daughter, Michelle (Todd) Gebhardt of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren; two sisters, Rita (Kenny) Trost of Waterloo, and Phyllis (Tom) Housladen of West Lafayette, IN; and two brothers, Edward "Pete" (Marissa) Van Dorn, and Joseph "Patrick" (Wanda Stahl) Van Dorn, all of Waterloo. Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Richard, and Jerry Van Dorn; and a sister, Sheila Francis. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors conducted by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Richardson Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to services Friday at the church. A memorial has been established, to be designated at a later date.
