TJ Kelton, 91, a longtime resident of Henrietta, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, surrounded by his family at Hospice of Wichita Falls. 


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Henrietta Church of God with Pastor Robert Fletcher, officiating, Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, Texas  under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Henrietta.


TJ was born on April 11, 1934, to the late J.A and Vera Gertude (Hill) Kelton in Henrietta, Texas. TJ met the love of his life, Mary North. The couple married on November 21, 1953, and spent the next 72 wonderful years together. Being a devoted family man, he and Mary built a home grounded in love and faith. The couple were members of Henrietta Church of God, where TJ served as a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. He loved the Lord, and his faith was integral to his life and legacy.


TJ was employed with TXDOT as a Safety Coordinator and spent 32 years of dedicated service, before retiring. After retiring, he became active in serving on the Board and volunteering at the Clay County 1890 Jail Museum and Heritage Center. TJ enjoyed researching family genealogy and was a member of the Sons of the Republic. TJ had a quiet and gentle soul and will be missed by all who knew him.


Along with his parents, TJ was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Michael Kelton; six brothers, Calvin Kelton, James Kelton, Onis Kelton, Billy Ray Kelton and Roger Kelton; and one sister, Leona Boger.


TJ is survived by his wife, Mary Kelton; two sons, Danny Kelton and wife, Rhona and Rick Kelton; one daughter, Karen Kelton; six grandchildren, Matt Kelton and wife, Sasha, Jesse Kelton and wife, Sarah, Ashley Silvertooth and husband, Patrick, Jennifer Mass and Jessica Halter and husband, Josh; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.


The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Hospice of Wichita Falls for their excellent care and unwavering support to TJ and his family.

Because of TJ’s faith in Jesus Christ: “it is not goodbye but until we meet again”.
