Not sure what to say?

I worked with Toby, in Austin, TX. Even though we were colleagues for just a few months, we became quick friends and shared some of our very crazy life experiences. He was one of the reasons I looked forward to being at work and always had some type of positive reinforcement for me. His words were always inspiring, especially with what I was going through and his story of those he was connected to in the UT tower shooting was a constant reminder that we are all connected in this life, in...

I just heard this morning that Toby had passed away. I can't even begin to tell you how heart broken I am. I did not know Toby well and only saw him at times when I got my morning coffee, but I looked forward to seeing him and speaking with him. He was a special man and made an ever lasting impression. I am so proud to say that I knew him. He will be surely missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. With deepest sympathies, Julia

I recently moved and have been behind on news and am just reading this - in shock like so many others. I've known Toby since 1998. This is so very sad indeed - his smile and shining personality will be sorely missed. My sympathies to his family.

Toby and I knew each other since 1972. He was great friend and fellow adventurer. He was a critical player in the UT tower tragedy and hope his story gets told. I lost touch when I left Austin in 1980s. The best Longhorn Fan of all time. Rock (Norman, Okla.)

Toby will be greatly missed. He was just one of the good guys. Always friendly, always with a good story, always ready to chat. He looked out for me and I think everyone he encountered. Great neighbor & friend. Edie & family, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am still in shock and don't know what to say....My thoughts are with your family, and I will miss seeing you -- you were such a good friend -- and the funny thing is, I didn't even really know you but I felt like I did. You were the first person I told when I got married -- wow...thanks for always making my day a little better, always being positive, and always smiling. Thank you for being so nice, positive and happy all the time, always asking how my daughter is doing, etc. I am in...

I worked with Toby for several years and later found we shared a dentist so I never failed to ask after him. I never knew we shared so much about the Tower because I had close family friends who saved people during the shootings and knew other people who were present and shot at that day. My father was on campus and ran toward the tower when he heard the shots (he was an Army vet), but didn't make it there in time to help. My other connection to the tower was that my baby sitter was the last...

To the Hamiltons -
I knew Toby only a few years, but like everyone, felt I had known him my whole life. He was a good man loved by all and he will be dearly missed. Rest in peace dear friend.
