Greatest story teller of all time.

We shared the same last name. I want to note that my mother wrote to Tommy Heinsohn to see if we had any relatives in common since Heinsohn is not a very common name. Mrs Heinsohn wrote back a gracious letter and while we did not have anything in common other then in name, it was a very nice gesture and I became a Celtic fan. Sorry he is gone but he has left a legacy. God bless the family

To the family, many, many friends, and fans of a six-time NBA All-Star and the Celtics’ head coach. May you find comfort in your wealth of fond memories together with Tom Heinsohn. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with the loss of Tom.

He taught me to believe in myself and to never give up. I went to college on a basketball scholarship and owe my success to him. He was one of a kind and never forgot his humble background, I'll always remember him. May God bless his family and give them the strength to cope with their loss.

Super guy and player. I'll always remember his commentary and incredible basketball skills. He was one in a million, and basketball has lost one of its legends. I send my heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends. May God give them the strength to endure this especially difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
