IN HIGH SCHOOL I WORKED AT DUNLAPS DEPARTMENT STORE WHERE TOM WAS MY BOSS. I WAS SCARED OF HIM BECAUSE HE WAS SO BIG QUITE A LOOMING FIGURE. I SOON LEARNED HOWEVER, THAT HE WAS A GENTLE GIANT AND VERY CARING. MY HEART GOES OUT TO DIANNE AND ALL THE FAMILY. TOM WAS A MAN OF GOD. I REMEMBER HIM FONDLY. MY HUSBAND, BRAD PETERSON AND I RESPECTED HIM AND REMEMBER HIS CHRISTIAN SPIRIT AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH. WE ALSO REMEMBER HIS ATHLETIC ABILITIES DURING THOSE MANY SOFT BALL GAMES. HE WAS AN...

I met Tom in 1971 while playing softball for First Baptist Church. I had just moved back to Modesto and he had recently been discharged from the Army. He was a true competitor and gave his all in whatever he did; something I've always admired in him. Jesus Christ and his family were always his top priority. All through the next 50 plus years, Tom was rock solid in his character and always a blessing to me and to those whom he came in contact. My heart hurts for Dianne and the family. Well...

I did not know Mr. Barbera but my mother Jeanne Aggers worked with him at Dunlaps store. Mom always spoke highly of his character & caring way of managing his responsibilities and caring about his workers. The world has lost one of its finest .......may he rest in peace. Barney Aggers

My mom, Jeanne (Pat) Aggers, worked in the Dunlap's fabric department for many years and always, always spoke highly of Tom. It seemed that although he was "management", he was able to communicate with and relate to the "clerks". He was greatly admired and appreciated.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Tom for many years. I always enjoyed our meetings. He was joyful, upbeat, and dedicated to accuracy with his work. I am so saddened to hear he passed.
