Not sure what to say?

Mr. Massey was the best, most engaging (and entertaining) math teacher ever. He made learning an adventure one wanted to pursue. I loved that he had a great talent for art, and was always drawing as we worked on our algebra problems. I am sad to see that he left us a while ago. He is/was unforgettable... thank you for your gift from all of us who went to PKY.

Thank you for sharing your pleasant memories of Tom - we enjoyed them all and we appreciated your thoughtfulness so much.

Tom's family, Susan, Susan and Thomas

I have such fond memories of Mr. Massey, my math teacher at Eastside H.S. over twenty years ago. I smile remembering his "time to learn" clock. I hope his family is able to celebrate what a wonderful impact he had on so many students.

Mr. Massey was a wonderful teacher, even though I was a terrible math student. I vividly remember him pacing wildly around the room with shirttails flying, waving a piece of chalk in the air in excitement. This is a man who loved his job, and whose students loved him. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a lovely man.

Mr. Massey made math fun for me, and that is something I didn't know was possible. I wish I had told him that he exemplified the importance of passion and enthusiasm in teaching. He did; he was an excellent teacher. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues.

Mr. Massey made math fun for me. And that is something that I didn't know was possible. I wish I had thanked him for demonstrating the power of passion and enthusiasm in teaching. When people talk about excellent teaching, I have often thought of Mr. Massey. My condolences to his friends, family and colleagues.

I was never a very talented math student, but I invoke Mr. Massey's energetic "fresh start" at the start of every grading period to my own students now. I also love to recount how he pasted a sign that said "TIME TO LEARN" over the clock to prevent students from packing up their backpacks before the bell had rung. I also frequently say, "Oh, darn," to my students, in the same deadpan he used, in response to mishaps, hardships, and excuses great and small. I didn't know of his death until I...

Susan, Mrs. Massey, and Thomas, So sorry to hear of Mr. Massey's passing. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. he was a wonderful teacher and I wish all math teachers could be so inspiring and fun. Susan, please get in touch if you feel up to it! If you are living in Oregon, perhaps sometime I could visit when I am out there visiting my family in Portland/Yachats. Warm Regards, Meryl

He fueled my love of math at PK Yonge and was the father of one of my very dear friends. My deepest sympathies to his family.
