Tom passed away June 4th after a long battle with cancer. He was a life long resident of Kansas City, the son of Jim and Virginia McBrien. Tom was a graduate of Rockhurst High School and College and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a great boy scout leader, member of the Tribe of...

Not sure what to say?

I was very saddened to have heard of Tom's passing last week and send my deepest condolences to his family. I have lived across the way from Tom, at Quivira Falls for years. He had done a-lot of painting for me in previous years, as well as for some of my friends and my parents when they lived in their house. Tom always had a good story to tell and was never lost for words! He was always very articulate in his work when painting and took great pride in making his customers happy in the end....

Tom was my first Scout Master.I was 10 years old in Troop 601 in 1974.Thank you Tom for all your time. Tom could make the hardest task so much fun. Tom taught me so much about how to be a young man. Tom I owe you a lot. I have one boy who is an Eagle Scout and another who is very close. Thank you so much. Mike (Spanky) Speight Eagle Scout Runner in Mic-O-Say Trailblazers 1978.

I have not seen Tom or Jan in 50 plus years, but I have good memories of both from the Little Flower neighborhood. The McBrien's lived on 58th and Wabash, as did the Clarke's, Angotti's, Koetting's and others. Most of my interaction was with Mike and Ray Clarke. Tom's involvement with the Boy Scouts, his Serving in the Navy and his other endeavor speak well of him. He and the family are in my prayers,

I love you Tom. Frank d Julian

Pam and I are saddened to hear of Tom's passing. Our families' friendships go back a long way in time. We had great times with the McBrien family in days gone by.

I received word today that an old friend, and Assistant Scoutmaster, Tom McBrien passed away.

He was instrumental in keeping us young men, boys at the time, out of trouble. He was one of the founders of the "Trailblazers," which taught us older scouts a different path.. that of the Native Americans. He taught us their ways, customs, traditions, bead work and dances etc.ranks and beliefs that lead the way to many of us being successful in the fields we're in today.. Protecting our...
