I want to express my sympathies to Mr. Mitchell's entire family. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful person and a great teacher. He had a way of "polishing" each of us until we shined. He had a passion for what he did and taught us to have the same passions. Challenger Middle School wouldn't have been the same for me. I'll never forget when he told me that I couldn't play the instrument I wanted to and recommended that I play a different one. I was...

Mr. Mitchell was the band director to both of my daughters at Westlawn Middle School. He was such a wonderful teacher and much loved.
May God richly bless all of his family and friends and give them the strength that they need.

Mr. Mitchell had an ability to make a shy kid feel very proud of their accomplishments. He will be missed.

If it wasn't for him I wouldn't know as much as I do about music or love it as much as I do now if it wasn't for him..

I remember when Tommy used to watch me when I was a little girl. God bless his soul. Because I have always been the wild child. He was so kind and patient to me because he loved my father. Mr. Mitchell was a great man. I loved his life lessons and his words of wisdom. He has caused me to be the man I am today and to be able to have the future in the music world that I love and enjoy.
