I was lucky to know and work with Tom for almost 30 years. From the early days of outport cruises through the Wild Thing and beyond, I never saw a frown on his face or heard a harsh word. To my never ending amazement he never met a PB&J he didn't like. Tom was a truly rare human being and I learned many life lessons from him.
His wisdom, tolerance and joy of life made all who knew him a better person.

Al,
My heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your life partner, and a brother-in-law who treated me like the brother I never had and might have wished for.

I read about Tom's passing in today's newspaper and wanted to give my condolences to his family. He was my son Brian's Big Brother about 20 years ago. He was an extremely kind man and he shared with my son his love for Virginia Tech, sailing and flying. Brian has been a Virginia Tech fan ever since. Tom will be missed. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Alice,
I will be thinking about you and your family as you mourn the loss of beloved Tom. It has been such a great pleasure getting to know you while your home in New Town was being constructed.

I was, I believe, the first employee hired by Richard O'Leary and Tom back in the days when it was Cruise International and the office was in the Lawler, Ballard, Little building downtown Norfolk. Tom was a great guy, so kind and funny and, although we all worked hard, it was such an exciting time. I learned so much and still treasure those memories. My sincere condolences to his family.
