Tom will be remembered as a dedicated and caring father, a gentle and kind partner, an invaluable resource to his firm, and a brilliant mind. As a dad, Tom always prioritized his role as a parent above all else despite his demanding career as a CPA, spending seemingly every moment outside of...

Not sure what to say?

I worked with Tom at several different companies. He was the nicest guy in the world and was so knowledgeable on anything and everything accounting related. I knew I could always go to him with any questions even after I stopped formally working w/ LevitZacks as he was always kind enough to lend a helping hand whenever I needed it. My favorite memory was going to the US Open at Torrey Pines with Tom and Bruce S. back in 2008. He will be sorely missed.

Tom was an absolutely amazing human being, hard worker, and generally all around good person. Tom hired me at LevitZacks back in 2008 and I had the pleasure of working with him until his official retirement at the end of 2023. My heart broke upon hearing the news of his untimely passing. He played an essential role as a mentor and in my own career development. I would always try to stump him with technical accounting questions and I was NEVER successful in this endeavor. I have always tried...

I never walked away from a Tom Rex conversation without learning something. His legacy not only has influenced my career, but countless others that have had the pleasure of working with him. I will miss his mentorship greatly.

I had the pleasure to work with Tom back in the 80´s and considered him a friend as well as did others who had the pleasure to meet him. Have stayed somewhat in contact over the years, shared many memories and laughs. In fact, he set up the lunch for my husband and I to meet many years ago! I am so saddened to hear of his passing and my heart goes out to his family. He was one of the best!

I met Tom on my first day at LevitZacks in 2011 and it was coincidently the same day that the firm was closing early and going to a Padres game. Although I have worked in the opposite department of Tom since 2011, I often had interactions with him, whether it be to discuss a client in his office or to chat about our weekends in the kitchen. Tom's greatest joy in life was his son and I remember Brendon coming to our LevitZacks Padres game events in the past and the smile I saw on Tom's face...

I had the great privilege of being a friend and coworker with Tom for 40 years. He was one of the smartest people I ever knew, and we shared numerous clients and worked on countless transactions. He was amazing at seeing not only the "big picture", but also quickly being able to understand all the necessary steps to get the job done. He especially enjoyed catching my mistakes, which happened frequently. We also spent a lot of time either talking about sports or going to games. One of my...

I can confirm that Tom was a technical accounting guru and "human calculator". He was one of the smartest people I've met, an influential mentor, and a friend. He was the person who interviewed and hired me at LZ. When I hesitated in making the move to San Diego from Ohio, he was the one to convince me it was a good move. 16 years later, I continue to work at the firm as partner. I owe a lot to him. I am deeply saddened by the loss of Tom and offer my deepest and sincere condolences.

We are very saddened by the loss of Tom as he was a wonderful father to my son Brendon. Tom had a brilliant mind and shared that with others. He loved playing Yahtzee and going to baseball games with Brendon. He took Brendon to many ballparks throughout the United States which further inspired Brendon's passion for the sport. He would also share his love of travel with Brendon. When Brendon was a child, Tom took us on a few trips to include Disneyworld and Hawaii and had a fabulous time...

We were very saddened to hear of Tom leaving our earth but know that he will be in eternal glory. My son is one of Brendon´s best friends. We have known Tom since Brendon was in preschool (age 3). We saw Tom occasionally at the neighborhood grocery store but always heard stories from Brendon about the baseball games the two attended. He was a nice, kind and cordial person. Our family considers Brendon as a family member and will always have open arms for him. I am sure Tom will be watching...
