Tommie Lee Stevenson February 10, 1944 - November 30, 2022 Tommie Lee Stevenson, a native of Meridian, MS and a life-long resident of Prichard, AL was born February 10, 1944. He departed this life, surrounded by his family, to be with the Lord on November 30, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.O. and Hannah Stevenson, brother, Arthur Lee Stevenson, and sister, Mary Stevenson-Causey. Tommie accepted Christ and united with Cedar Grove Baptist Church under the late Rev. P.L. Ely. Later he joined Union Missionary Baptist Church (AfricaTown) under the late Rev. A. J. Crawford, where he served faithfully as secretary and treasurer of the Baptist Laymen and General Mission Ministries until his health failed. Tommie also served as Ward #7 leader; he consistently called and assisted his members, as well as humbly assisted other members not on his ward. He was a 1963 graduate of Mattie T. Blount High School. He later graduated from Carver State Technical College and White's Barber College. Tommie retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS after 30+ years of service, where he received numerous awards and certificates for his niche skill as a T-Shot welder. He was a Vietnam Veteran SP4 Class receiving the VNS, NDSM, and Vietnam Campaign Medal recognitions. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted family: his wife of 54+ years, Mabeleania Drakes Stevenson; five daughters - Tomasene (Edgar) Marshall, LaJuana, Marlene, Janette and Maggie Stevenson; one adopted son and grandson Isaiah Stevenson; five grandchildren - Steven (Amber), Joneice, Camry, and Nakia Johnson; nine great grandchildren - Shanell, Harmoni, Darrell Jr., and Jayceon Brown, Penelope and Steven Johnson Jr., Jaxon Dunn, Ashlynn and Averi Smith; brother, Robert Stevenson; a host of other loving relatives and friends that will miss him dearly. He will lie in state Friday, December 9, 2022 from 4pm until 8pm at Small's Mortuary, 950 S. Broad St., Mobile, AL 36603. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022 from 9am until the 11am service at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 508 Africatown Blvd, Mobile, AL 36610. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery~Mobile. DIGNIFIED AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ENTRUSTED TO SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 S. BROAD ST., MOBILE, AL 36603.
