Tommie Christene Hunt Wright Tommie Chris tene Hunt Wright, age 83, of Austin, passed away on September 7, 2011. She was born to David Oswald and Willie Mae Nabors Hunt on February 1, 1928 in Rule, Texas. After graduating from Rule High School, she enrolled at the Brackenridge School of Nursing in Austin, Texas. In 1947, she met SSgt. Stanley George Wright at a USO dance when he came down on a three day pass from Illinois, and married him after graduation in Rule, Texas on December 19, 1948. Stanley passed away at the age of 92 on May 20, 2010 after 61 years of marriage. Stanley was stationed at various Air Force bases around the United States, and she traveled with him and worked in local hospitals as an RN. In 1952, while Stanley was recovering from tuberculosis, she returned to Rule to have their daughter. After being stationed at Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada, he was stationed at Bergstrom AFB in 1957 and their son was born in 1960. Their final base was KI Sawyer AFB in Michigan and Stanley retired at Bergstrom AFB in 1967. They moved into their house in Austin where they lived from then on. Tommie worked at Brackenridge Hospital in the ICU until she retired in 1984. She then spent her time with Stanley who had subsequently retired from Tracor, now BAE Systems, as well. She was quiet person with a kind and nurturing way who raised a family while calling many places home, and loved to read. She was involved with her daughter in Girl Scouts and enjoyed camping with her siblings and family. Through her life, she was known for her cheerful attitude and her way of making people smile. She was preceded in death by husband Stanley G Wright, her parents, brother George Nabors Hunt and wife Nathalie, brother David O. Hunt Jr. and wife Carolyn, and brother-in-law Dr. W. J. Wooten, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Ann and husband Allen Currier of Georgetown, son Michael James Wright, granddaughter Jennifer Kathleen (Currier) and husband Daniel Dickerson, grandson Nicholas Allen Currier, and great grandson Zachary Allen Dickerson, all of Austin. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Adell Hunt Wooten of Amarillo, and sister-in-law Joy Sinkovitz of Chicago, IL. The family will have visitation at Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 6100 N. Lamar from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. on Friday, September 9, 2011 and there will be a private family committal. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial in Tommie's name be given to the
Alzheimer's Association, the
