Memorial services will be held for Tommy Dunbar at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday May 13, 2017 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville, LA with Fr. Rusty Rabalias officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.


 


     Mr. Dunbar, age 67, of Marksville, passed away at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria surrounded by his children\] on Monday, May 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents J.T. Dunbar, Sr. and Hermean Lemoine Dunbar.


 


      He is survived by his 3 sons, Josh Dunbar (Anitra) of Marksville, J.T. Dunbar III (Joan) of Marksville, Jason Dunbar (Angelia) of Effie; 1 daughter, Rachel Milligan (Beau) of Mansura.; 3 brothers, Glynn Dunbar, Daniel Dunbar, Robert Dunbar; 3 sisters, Lynn Laborde, Rachel Tuma, Sheila Lusins and 12 grandchildren.


 


       Mr. Dunbar was a Pharmaceutical Technician at Don’s Pharmasave for over 30 years. He was a member of the National Guard in Marksville, LA during the Viet Nam Conflict. Tommy’s passion, known to many, was his children and grandchildren. He was an avid supporter as they coached and played for the Marksville High School Football Program and he was an active member of the Tiger Touchdown Club for 30 years. 


    


      The family request that memorials be made to Tiger Touchdown Club, P. O. Box 761, Marksville, LA 71351 in honor of Tommy.


 


      Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017  from  8:00 a.m. until time of service in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers.

We were saddened to hear of Tommy's death. We were looking forward to seeing him at our 50th class reunion this September.

Shelia, Rachel, Danny, Glynn, Lynn and Robert, Sally and I are both saddened by the death of Tommy. Sally missed out on those wonderful years when it seems we all all grew up together between Baton Rouge, Opelousas and Marksville, but she has relived many with me as we reminisced of those "Happy Days" with "Uncle Jake," "Aunt Hermean"and you guys.
