LAWRENCE, Tommy "Gramps" - Of Burton, age 84, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating.Burial in Crestwood Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of the Marine Corps League Flint Detachment #155 Honor guard. Visitation 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Tommy was born in VanBuren, Missouri on August 2, 1925. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially loved attending his grandkids sporting events. Mr. Lawrence worked at Standard Cotton for 23 years and Chevrolet V-8 for 20 years. Surviving are children, Joyce and Larry Williams, Tommy and Denise Lawrence, Danny Lawrence, Connie and Terry Clemons; grandchildren, Kimberly Kirts, Laura Hernandez, Michael and Jackie Williams, Bryant and Debbie Lawrence, Kevin Lawrence, Aaron and Cyndi Lawrence, Terra Gates, Nathan and Carrie Clemons and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Joyce Lawrence; two brothers and one sister. Your condolences may be shared with the family at swartzfuneralhomeinc.com

To the Lawrence Family, I am truly saddened to hear of "Gramps" passing. He was an amazing person, and I still have great memories and stories (that I still tell to this day), like the time he saved me from drowning (when I caught a 24 inch pike - it was delicious)... May peace be with him, and the rest of the Lawrence Family...

iam sorry to hear about tom. him and joyce watched my kids 24 yrs ago. iam sorry i didnt make it to the service because i didnt see this till late. they both will always be missed. so sorry for your loss.
