Not sure what to say?

I just saw this and am remembering what a great person he was. As an educator I often recall many of his classes and lessons fondly. What an impression and impact he had on so many of us. Condolences to the family, he will be forever in my memory.

I was a student in Prof. De Vos' Comparative Politics course at Trinity University many years ago - though I confess I have forgotten much of what I learned, I remember Prof. De Vos quite well. He was a remarkable man and while reserved, dignified, and serious on one level, he had a kind and gentle, sometimes even playful, spirit. He truly enjoyed being in the classroom and interacting with students. I am fortunate to have been one of them. Thank you, Dr. De Vos, and may your good work carry...

Thinking about my undergrad faculty advisor at Trinity University, Dr. DeVos, I was saddened but not surprised in seeing his passing after a very long lifetime of selfless service to others. Ton was a very thoughtful professor and such a kind, courtly gentleman. As my International Relations advisor was a direct inspiration for my career in the intelligence community and a mentor in service to others. Rest peacefully, Professor.

I dearly loved Ton and Vaughn! Although I haven't seen them since I moved to Nashville in 2011, I thought about them often. My deepest condolences to the whole family.

Sorry to hear of the death of your loved one. May our Heavenly Father gives you a calm heart to help you endure your sadness. Roman 15:3-5 tells us that our father wants to give you comfort. James 5:5 says to draw close to God, and he will draw close to you.

I worked with your dad when I led the CHAIR program at IPC and he and your mom were such lovely people. My heart goes out to each of you with your loss, but with such wonderful memories of lives well lived to the fullest. Fondly, Mary Bashinsky

The obituary does say it all. I loved your father very much. This memory really exemplifies your Dad: the day my father died, the hospital notified my Mom and me at 2:00 am. My mother wondered if it was too early/late to call the DeVos’s. I said if she needed to call, they wouldn’t mind. Ton said he would go to the hospital to clean out the room of his stuff so the funeral home wouldn’t have to. So at 3:00 am on 08/09/1984, your father went to Northeast Baptist Hospital to clean out the room...

God Bless You Ton. You made this world better. Somehow passing away on election day is amazingly appropriate.
