Many years ago when I first came to San Francisco in the late fifties Tot and Joanne were so kind and hospitable to me. I shall always remember the perfect baby gift they gave me when I was expecting my first child and about to travel and live overseas. Tot helped so many worthy people and causes during his lifetime. He truly was one of those rare individuals that left the world a better place because of his presence in it. My sympathies to the Heffelfinger family.

I grew up on Fifth Avenue in SF, and knew the family well. I played outside with Perry and Ellen. The family were involved in so many important movements over the years. A great inspiration. RIP.
