Not sure what to say?

I was Travis´s barber the last few years....he was so kind and always in good spirits despite his limitations...all my love to his wife and family.

Travis Cavens was always the #1 Trav in our family. As one of his younger cousins, he was an inspiration to me in his educational, professional and community endeavors. He was a wonderful family man and a fellow Rotarian and President of his Rotary Club. We shared common bonds and he help me understand what living a good and purposeful life was all about. I am sad at his passing but blessed because I knew him, and shared many good laughs and fellowship over the years. We will miss you...

We are so saddened to hear of the recent passing of Travis. He was the one who inspired me serve the Lord through short term dental mission trips. At Travis's recommendation I followed him to India and Oaxaca, Mexico where he had recently served. The result was two of the most memorable, mountain top experiences of my life. I will also never forget Travis's wit. On being half way around the world in India he told us not to worry about getting back home. He said if the planes were not flying...

His death is a great loss to the academic and medical community. He was my first biology teacher and the best and i am sure was a big influence in my choice to enter medicine and eventually become a neonatologist. My sincere regards and prayers to his family and patients. HE WILL Be missed by all. Most respect fulluly Dr Carrie Case Mackie

Mr. (Dr.) Cavens was my biology and chemistry teacher for two years at Sunset High School in the late 50's. His love of science and his very positive nature made me a better student and also a better person. I shall cherish his memories always. Stuart Cohen, Federal Way, WA, Sunset Class of '61.

I was a student in Dr. Caven's biology and chemistry classes at Sunset High School. Yes, he was a great teacher. I have frequently thought of him over the years. I still remember his exams, where he'd put a chair on top of his desk and sit in it to surveil that no fudging was going on. My best regards and condolences to his family, Stephen A. Cohen (Steve), Seattle, WA.

Mr. Cavens was one of my favorite teachers at Sunset High School. I took biology from him and he selected me as a lab assistant the next year. Because of him, I majored in biology at the University of Oregon and went into good science and quality control. I only wish I had kept in contact and followed his amazing life. What a great man.

Travis Cavens was both my biology teacher for two years at Sunset High School and my youth leader at my church, at the same time. I really enjoyed biology and he was a great teacher. I even got to ride in his red Triumph a couple of times. I am so glad to hear of his amazing gifts to the world of medicine, to his family and to his community...world-wide. May his life continue to be an inspiration to his family and to all who knew him. My sympathy to his wife and family and all who will...

Dr. Cavens and his wife Phyllis were always held with much respect in my home growing up. In the early seventies I was misdiagnosed with being secondary diabetic. It was very hard as a child and that diagnosis lasted for two years, until my mom finally got myself in to see Dr. Cavens. Right away he told us that I was never diabetic and the way that the previous doctor had diagnosed me was invalid. We never forgot and were so grateful for both of his amazing care over the years. Of course...
