Andrews Mortuary and Crematory - Market Street Chapel - Wilmington Obituary

Travis ?Lee? Shumate, Jr., 56, of Wilmington passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 10, 2015.
He was born on June 24, 1958 in North Wilkesboro, NC to the late Travis and Betty Cook Shumate. Lee is also preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Odell Shumate.
Lee is survived by his sweetheart, Christie Svajdlenka; daughter, Taylor Danielle Shumate; brothers, Michael Glen Shumate and Johnny Ray Shumate (Tonya); step-children, Kelly Marie Golden and Kyle William Baur; grandchildren, Parker and Peyton Golden and Olivia and Trevor Baur as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lee was a true southern gentleman. His only worry in the world was for those around him to be happy. His words were soft, his heart full of love and laughter, his limits endless, and his jokes... well they always got a laugh one way or another. He will be remembered and forever loved as a great dad, dedo, and soulmate. "Sure enough, there it is."
A visitation will be held 10-11am Saturday June 13, 2015 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A memorial service will follow the visitation starting at 11am.

Not sure what to say?

This is Leonard the guy that supplied oxygen to mr shumate every week. I enjoyed seeing him every week and was amazed how how much life he had even thou he new about his illness. He didn't let that hold him down. He lived every day like it was his last. I wish the best for his companion. The love of his life and the person that helped him and lived thru the pain and also the person that helped him live life to the fullest to the end. And I prayers go out to the family and friends that I do...

Dearest Christie, we love you so much and can't imagine your pain. Lee was a kindhearted, loving, funny, selfless man whom we also loved and will certainly miss.
