Not sure what to say?

Dr. Butler was a key figure in my life when I submitted my 3-year Bible-reading plan to Holman Bible Publishers, and he sent me a gracious acceptance letter in late 1996. It took 14 years after that for Broadman & Holman Publishers to finish translating the Holman Christian Standard Bible translation, but the HCSB Study Bible then turned out to be more beautiful, scripturally helpful, and comprehensive than I could have possibly thought it would be. About 7 years later, the CSB translation...

Trent's memories of life and work we shared together remain strong. Because of my vantage point, I'm able to know of the continuing usefulness and value of great volumes of work did on this side of heaven. And therefore I know truly that Revelation 13:14 or 14:13, whichever, is true in saying that in his rest his works follow him. I give sympathy and empathy to the family and also great thanks and tribute to the full life and stewardship of my friend and coworker, Trent Butler....

Greetings and prayer support for the BUTLER FAMIY. I recently read the thoughtful "life-story" of Dr. Trent Butler. I was a co-worker during some very good years at the Board. I remember his balance of scholarship and discipleship in service and personal life. Your beautiful family tribute reminds me of the extended and faithful service he had as a churchman. May the Lord bless and keep each one of you in the hollow of His hand through this your journey. Yours in memory, prayer and grieving....

Trent Butler was my friend, colleague, and great partner in "syzygy," which means yoked together or aligned. Trent edited and published this book I wrote after we had both served together in Christian publishing and a partnership that knew alignment in all the ways God joins His children. I give thanks for Trent and all the contributions of his life, which both endure on earth and will follow him in heaven (Rev. 14:13).~Johnnie C Godwin
