Eckersell Funeral Home (Eckersell Memorial Chapel) Obituary

Treva June Ward, 70, of Burton passed away at her home July 22, 2024 from an accident. Treva was born December 26th, 1953 in Rexburg Idaho to Mark and Jessie Ward.

Treva and her family moved around quite a bit in her younger years. They eventually settled in Hibbard. She attended and graduated from Madison High School. She spent her adult years living in Egin, Rexburg, Hibbard and then Burton.

Treva was always on the go. If she wasn't working at her job at Basic American Foods, where she was employed for 43 years, she was keeping herself with other work or hobbies. She started her own landscaping and painting business, as well as being a distributor of several different products.

Treva made the world a more beautiful place in many ways. Not only with her love for others, but with her hands and talent. If there was sunlight and good weather, you could find her outside, building rock walls, waterfalls or cottages. She traded work for many years at a plant nursery and brought home trees, plants and flowers to fill her property with. She created a magical place for every one of her friends and family to enjoy. Indoors, she would be painting one of her beautiful pieces of artwork or sitting at her

craft table working away on something. In the past few years, she found a new passion of drying herbs, making tinctures, salves, lotions and teas.

The biggest joy in Treva's life was being a mother and Nana. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved spending time with each one of them, she loved being goofy and making them laugh or teaching them to paint and garden. Treva loved Christmas and would work extra hard to make it magical for everyone, especially her family. Her house turned into a wonderland of beautiful Christmas trees that she spent countless hours decorating.

Treva was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the Lord and always made sure her children and grandchildren knew of her faith and testimony.

She is survived by two sisters and a brother; Katie Stacey, Helen Dilmore and Roger Ward. Her four children; Jamie Burnside (Beverley), Jerilee Green (Brian), Donovan Burnside, Cherie Harrison (Christopher), as well as 13 grandchildren and a great-grandbaby on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents Mark and Jessie, brothers Legrande, Gene, Dean, Dennis, Rollo, Elwyn as well as 2 sisters-in-law; Marilyn and Lelia.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at 11:00 Am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Burton East building 2332 W. 2000 S. Rexburg, ID. The family will meet with friends, Monday evening at Eckersell Funeral home from 6:00-8:00, 101 E. Main St., Rigby, ID. and again on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 at the Church. Burial will be at the Sugar Salem Cemetery. A luncheon will be held afterwards at Treva's house. 4457 W. Highway 33, Rexburg, ID. The Family would also like us to Celebrate her life, by wearing Pink.

Not sure what to say?

Oh Treva what can I say, you were a good friend, an excellent worker. I loved how you took so much pride in your home and yard. You my dear will always be missed. Your friend and coworker Peggy Dye

Treva, I´m grateful to have known you. Going steady with you many years ago, even throughout our lives we have always remained friends. I can now look at a picture in a column of the paper, we thought could come to us. I wish to send my sympathies to your family. Even though I can only know the anguish you feel now. But after losing my parents, I know first hand the pain that comes with the loss of a parent. The pain slowly dissipates, but the love you had with your Mom and a friend of...

We are so very sorry for your loss! Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family! Sincerely Terry and Kathy Beemer

Treva was one of the most down to earth people ever. I loved that about her. I was her Christmas Around the World supervisor for many years. It’s how we met and was if we’d known each other all our lives. It didn’t matter how often we got to see each other, we were low maintanance friends and we could pick up right where we left off. Her art was beautiful! I admired all her talents, but she was truly an artist. She put art in every single thing she did and even in her conversation. She is...

I am sending my loving thoughts and prayers to all of you that loved Treva and are now hurting by her sudden departure from this life when her Heavenly Father called her home. I pray that you will be comforted at this time. It is also my prayer that God will get you through this very difficult loss by assuring you that it is not goodbye forever, and that you will be united again, and that you can lean on him to help ease the pain. I am so sorry that this has happened and share my love with...
