Mr. Troy Davis, 57, died early Sunday morning (April 26, 2009) at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Clinch County, but he has been a lifelong resident of Waycross. In October 1970, he began his employment with CSX Railroad as a sheet metal worker. He was also a member of First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Davis; and his step-father, W. B. West. Survivors include his wife, Connie Dixon Davis of Waycross; two daughters, Michelle Pitchford (Todd) of Valdosta, and Elaina Sherrill (A. J.) of Los Angeles, CA; two granddaughters, Julia and Ellison Pitchford; his mother, Ellen Myers West of Waycross; step-mother, Betty Jo Davis of Yulee, FL; three brothers, Don Davis (Starr) of Yulee, FL, Phil Davis (Teri) of Hilliard, FL, and Michael Davis (Becky) of Yulee, FL; three sisters, Joann Knight (Kevin) of Yulee, Teresa Perkins (Richard) of Hoboken, and Martha Preston (Andy) of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday (April 28, 2009) at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery in Pierce County. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Music Funeral Home. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com.
