Trygve Nelson Slettebo

Slettebo, Trygve Nelson age 96, born 1911, died Oct. 28, 2007. He lived in Maple Grove, prior to that he raised his children in Edina. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Barbara Eggert and Eileen Slettebo Larson. He is survived by his wife, Elvera; and their son, Thomas of Dallas, TX; and five grandchildren. Tyrg came to the US in 1929 from Norway, he started as a farm hand. He served in the United States Navy. He formed, Slettebo Construction, and built over 100 grain elevators over the next 30 years. As an emissary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture he traveled to Russia to educate farmers. He was a testament to the "American Dream". In retirement Tryg and Elvera, enjoyed winters in Texas, and other travel. He restored classic cars. Memorial service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church of Edina, on November 17, 2007 at 1 PM, 500 Blake Rd., Edina 952-935-3457.
