My fondest memory of Val: Right after I became a police officer in Wash, DC right out of college, I was visiting my Mom in Buffalo. During that visit I ran into Val, who told me that he had some personal police equipment that used to belong to my Dad (who died when I was 10)and Val wanted me to have them.
