Not sure what to say?

For some reason, I thought about Valerie Purcott and began to search for her.
Unfortunately I learned of her passing at an early age.
Valerie was my teacher at Our Lady of Refuge in Orchard Lake MI. A great person and educator

My counsin's daughter just got her first teaching assignment. She is going to teach 4th grade. That was all it took to remember my favorite teacher, Miss Purcott. She started in the middle of the year at Our Lady of Refuge, so many years ago. We were not an easy group of students. Her love and patience did so much for each one of us. I thought she was the most beautiful and caring woman I had ever seen. I will never forget her, nor the virtues she tried to instill in us.
I am now...

I believe I was in Miss Purcott's first fifth grade class in 1969 and also had her the following year in 6th grade. Mrs. Lukasik and Mrs. Shiffman were a team back then and those two years were always my favorite years of school. I remember Mrs. Lukasik as a kind, loving woman. It is funny what you remember as a child but I actually remember Mrs. Lukasik telling the class how wonderful her husband was and how proud she was of him. She had the patience of a saint and I remember wanting...

I was in Mrs. Lukasik's 4th grade class in 1994. She was one of my favorite teachers at Vandenburg. Now at age 21, graduating from college this year, I know a lot of my great qualities as a person and as a student came from her teachings. She was definitely an inspiration to me. My favorite part of her class was when we had "Student of the Week" and we received pencils and certificates and everyone in class would write that "Student of the Week" a note on why they were such a great person. I...

Some good news!

Today (National Teacher Day) We want
to tell everyone that Vandenberg Elementary
School Teachers have planned a beautiful
event in memory of Valerie Lukasik's many
years of service to the school. The memorial
is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12,
2004 at the school. There will be a Redbud
tree planted in the courtyard near Her classroom,
with a memorial plaque in her honor.

Thank you,...

Merry Christmas Valerie,
Thank you for being up there helping me to bear the load. I know you're there for me. All those REALLY CLOSE parking spaces at the malls during this season were not accidental, they were YOU helping ME. All those miraculous gift finds were not accidental, they were YOU helping ME. Thank you so much for your continuing support of our family. Everyone is doing fine, and we know you are too.
From your loving sister,
Mary Beth
