Not sure what to say?

Bruce and family, I was saddened to learn of Valerie´s passing. I have fond memories of studying voice with her in high school and at Willamette, and performing in two of what I believe may have been her first operas to direct at WU. What fun! She was an amazing lady and an inspiration to those of us lucky enough to learn from her. Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss.

I was a music major at Willamette in the early 70's and have fond memories of Valerie and Bruce as vibrant, young faculty members. I stayed in Salem after graduating and was quite thankful for their contributions to the community. I walked my dog at Bush Park and ran into Valerie quite often. I continue to walk there and as I pass the old house, I have fond memories. My deepest condolences to the family.

Valerie brought me much joy by sharing her wonder about nature, especially birds in her garden and Bush Park. When I see a group of young crows searching for food or find a hummingbird nest in the Gaiety Hill neighborhood I will recall the many kindnesses of my neighbor and Willamette U community colleague.

Professor McIntosh - Valerie - set my feet on a lifelong path singing professionally. I will never forget her kindness and support, even while she was kicking my butt to make me do my exercises!! She will be missed by me and so many other singers she mentored.

On behalf of myself and the NW Region of NATS, I offer condolences for your loss of Valerie. She was part of our family of voice teachers, and she and I were part of the Cascade Chapter together. She will be missed.

On behalf of the NATS Cascade Chapter, I want to offer our deepest condolences to the family. Her love and dedication to music and teaching will continue to inspire future singers.

So sorry to hear of Valerie's death. Will be thinking about you and your family.
