Not sure what to say?

Dear family: To think that it has been a long 6 years since this giant of a man has left so many that loved him behind. He was such a kind and loving man. I have not met anyone like him yet in my life and probably never will because like someone else said that mold was broken. He was one of a kind. I know he touched so many hearts. I pray for you all that life is good. He went ahead to prepare for you. It will take awhile to work through the crowds that were waiting. I hope I am able to...

Oh Van,
You were my surrogate dad while I lived around you. We talked about private things only Fathers and sons talk about. My dad died earlier in my life and you were there for me. Judy and I visited you after we where all grown up and you were still the same. Thanks Bishop Van.

So sorry to hear of Van L.'s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys. We loved this man with a heart as big as he is. Didn't hear about it til after the memorial or we would have been there to honor this man and family. He always made everyone just feel comfortable and genuinely concerned about what was happening in your life. He was bishop when I was a stinker of a teenager and he would cry with me as he tried to counsel with me a can't tell you how much he made you feel loved. We...

Juleen and family.
I am so sad I missed the viewing and funeral. I wanted to be there. We loved him so much.
He was a clever and kind man. When he was bishop I asked him a question. Both my cars broke down. I asked him why the Lord let that happen. We had been paying our tithing. We had kept two boys out on missions. Van L said, "Well, Bill, the Lord could only keep those old cars running just so long." We had a great laugh over that.
He will be...

Dear Juleen and Dalton Family, So sorry to hear the world has lost one of it's great, great men! I read some of the other notes, and he was all of those things to everyone he came in contact with. My children, especially my son, looked up to him during all of the years we lived in Murray. The Christlike services he provided to our family are too numerous to mention, but we will be ever grateful. His pure charity will certainly be missed. Our love and prayers are with you all, especially...

I don't even have the words to express how I feel about this wonderful friend, who took me under his wing and treated me like his own daughter from day one. I don't think I ever left his house without him telling me how much he loved and cared about me. He was such a joy to be around and so cute with the little kids that would come and visit with him. I know he is up in heaven meeting and laughing with those who have gone on before. Thank you Van for your love and I look forward to the time...

Dearest Juleen,
My deepest condolences to you!
A big thank you for the years you and your husband were in our lives. You have always shown true unconditional love for everyone around you. You've also shown and been a great example of conquering and overcoming challenges to the end. Never giving up, thus being able to wear the crown of glory waiting for all us. What joy is felt with the knowledge that our Father and Brother, Jesus Christ has greeted Van and the knowledge of where our...
