Not sure what to say?

I remember Van from the 8th grade at Cobb. He was 2 days older than I was since I was born on the 19th of May 1943 and he on the 17th. Nice guy. His name came up today and Mark Sutton brought me up on his life. He certainly fulfilled the potential he showed way back then. I have fond memories of him... very very nice guy!

On May 9th I was part of a peaceful protest against infant circumcision on the corner of 72nd & Dodge in Omaha with Brother K and the Bloodstained Men, and I thought of Van's many years of activism in FL and DC. Van, we are carrying on your work!

I wish I could have known Van! I am from a long ago branch of his Virginia family (Brown),who found him researching. I was delighted to find the Lewis family of strong, creative liberals and close family--and that this huge family tree has bloomed with people like him and his mother!

Six months missing you.

Sorrily missed but never forgotten.
He will be in our hearts forever.
I do hope that they played "Jug Band Music" on the bells at St. Johns.

Van has always been a part of our lives at St Teresa. Much of what we know and share, we learned through Van and will always remember him.

What an amazing, marvelous man! He had such tremendous courage - he taught me so much about taking a stand for what one believes in. It was an honor to know him.
