Mr. Vaughn Acton Jerome, 70, died January 18, 2016 at his home in Blytheville. Born April 23, 1945 in Blytheville, he was the son of Dr. Newell G. Jerome and Margaret Jane Acton Jerome. He attended the Blytheville Schools, graduating in 1963. He was an Eagle Scout. Mr. Jerome graduated from Arkansas State University in 1967 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and Kappa Kappa Psi Band Fraternity. In the fall of 1967, he started the first band program at Highland High School near Hardy and Cherokee Village. He was the band director there for 16 years. In 1986, he returned to Blytheville and took the position of Media Director for the Blytheville Public Schools. He remained in that position until his retirement in June 1998. He was a former member of the Blytheville Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the first class of the Blytheville Leadership Institute. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Blytheville, having been christened and married in it. He is on the Board of Directors of NEA Pageant Association, and Vice President of Chickasaw Shooting Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Newell Jerome, Jr. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Marrietta Graves Jerome; his children, William Jerome of Blytheville and Heather Jerome of Blytheville; three grandchildren, Carol Davis of Jonesboro, Jonathan Davis of the United State Marine Corps, and Debra Davis of Vine Grove, Kentucky; one brother, Stewart Jerome of Blytheville; and sister-in-law, Eva Lee Graves of Blytheville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 20th at First United Methodist Church. The Dr. Robin Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cobb Funeral Home. Memorials should be sent to First United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 104, and the Blytheville Humane Society. Independence to Stewart's graduation @ Blytheville & later helping out with a few of the pagents.
You are both so much appreciated by me for your friendship.

Mr Jerome was my band director at highland. He encouraged me and helped me build a love for playing music that has been an enjoyment all my life. I have fond memories of him and want to express my deepest Condolences to his family for their loss.
