Mr. Ved Prakash Khatri, of Alwar, Rajasthan, India, born on May 17, 1937 in Kot Shakir, Punjab, India, to the late Ram Pyari Batra and Khem Chand Sapra, passed away at age 81 on October 1, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the Pilani Engineering College. He was a Mechanical Engineer and then a Business Owner of Royal Candy, Inc, where he was known as "Vic" throughout the Chicagoland area until retiring in 2013. Ved was the dedicated husband of Sabita (Sethi) Khatri, and proud and loving father of daughter, Pooja Khatri, and son, Vivek Khatri. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Swadesh Gandhi. Ved also supported the medical education of his beloved younger sisters, Urmila Batra, Kanta Batra, Kamlesh Kalra, and Sheel Manocha; and brother, Anil Sapra. He was much loved by his son-in-law, Erik Timothy Nelson; daughter-in-law Kiersten Noelle Goins; and grandchildren, Ajai Khatri Nelson (age 15) and Iraj Khatri Nelson (age 12); and extended family including his many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Vivekananda Vedanta Society. Donations in Ved Prakash Khatri's name to Shanti Bhavan Children's Project (https://shantibhavanchildren.org/donate/) are welcome and appreciated. Friends and family can pay their respects at the memorial service (followed by lunch) on Saturday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Arya Samaj Temple, 700 Hillview Ave, West Chicago, Illinois, 60185.
