Dear Pat and Mary:
It was deep sadness to read about your mom's passing. Charmaine and I stopped for a moment to reflect on her tremendous warmth and friendliness to everyone she met. And, of course, we were neighbors who were like family and I saw Velma almost daily in PLC when my office was on the 4th floor.
Pat, you were very fortunate to have a mother like Velma. I know how you loved her an God will remember her good deeds here on earth.

I was manager of a family-oriented soup kitchen in Eugene for a few years in the 1990's. Velma was one our best volunteers and was a smart, talented, and amazing woman. She was very compassionate towards the people we served, and was always someone we could count on in a pinch if we were shorthanded. I moved from Portland to Eugene several years ago and lost touch with Velma, but she was someone I will never forget. The planet could sure use more people like her!

Dear Patrick and Mary,
I was the organist and my husband, Rick, the Choir Director when Velma sang in the choir at Grace Lutheran Church. Our friendship started in that organization, but it was not limited to choir rehearsals and church on Sunday! Velma's kindness and thoughtfulness to our family was beyond measure; we admired her intellect and political savvy; and most importantly, she exemplified how one should live their faith. Rest in peace, dear Velma.

A great person, with whom I worked, warmly and appreciatively, for all those years on the 9th floor of PLC.

Dear Pat and family,
I was very sad to hear of Aunt Velma's passing, but know she is in a much better place now with her Lord, Uncle Mick and other family members. I will always cherish my memories of her, our family trips to Oregon and our last trip to see her in her assisted living home. She was a strong and vibrant woman, hard working and loving. They don't make many like her any more, that's for sure!
Sincerely,
Maryann (Woods) Spradley
