Not sure what to say?

Velmo was my best friend during he junior/senior high school days in Omaha. I moved away in high school and lost contact with him shortly thereafter. I recently was attempting to Google him in anticipation that he might still be living in Nebraska. Velmo was a unique individual. No one has ever made me laugh as he did in his high school years. He was a master at humor and was always there as a friend. In 10th grade we made an audiotape of the Pillsbury Bake Off. It was a spoof of course, but...

I was totally shocked and surprised. You just never think of your friend as being mortal. Velmo grew up a block away from me in the Keystone area. I'll always remember Velmo's little red Volkswagen and how we spent many of our weekends together. Just a few years back (well actually quite a few years) Mike Engstrom and I came up to spend the fourth of July with him and his family. It was a great time. It was then that I met his lovely wife and son Petey.
My greatest condolence.

Joann,

We are deeply saddened by the news of your loss. Lee and all of your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

With much love and God's Blessings,
Mary Curry and family

You will be missed.

I crossed paths with Velmo at several PDIs and found him to be a very caring individual - we exchanged many emails over the past few years until I retired. I'm sure his concern and insight regarding the servicemembers he served will be missed. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

I will miss Velmo's emails and insight into the Education field. My condolences to his family and coworkers.

Velmo always brightened any meeting or training and had a way of bringing people out. He loved his work and customers, most felt they had a friend in Velmo. This wonderful man and his willingness to question will be missed.

Velmo was a great dad to Peter, going out of his way to find him and spend time with him as much as possible. My best memories of him are back in the 70's in Omaha when I first met him through my sister, Mary. He made me laugh on many occasions with his antics (the best of which was his imitation of Froggy and his magic twanger). I'm sorry for all who loved him to lose him so soon.
