Mrs. Vera Ellen McRoy Cutler, age 76, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday December 16, 2025, at ECU Health Inpatient Hospice House in Greenville.


A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 20, 2025, in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Eddie Gurganus.  Pallbearers will be Hagan Morris, Daniel Woolard, Eugene McRoy, Blaney McRoy, Mike Elzey, and Jeremy Woolard.


Mrs. Cutler was born in Beaufort County on September 6, 1949, daughter of the late Milford Guy McRoy and the late Doris Wall McRoy Hill. She was a graduate of Chocowinity High School and continued her education at Beaufort County Community College.  At the time of her retirement, she was a clerk with the Beaufort County Clerk of Court. On December 27, 1986, she married Charlie Frank “Butch” Cutler who survives.  She was a member of Woodards Pond Church of Christ who enjoyed gardening, growing her flowers and making jewelry.


Surviving along with her husband Butch of the home is a son, Benjamin Scott Gaskins of Goldsboro and stepchildren, Charlie Frank Cutler, Jr. and Sabrina Cutler Elks.  She was predeceased, along with her parents, by a brother, Larry Gene McRoy.
