Verdi was like a mentor to me when I was with the same Coast Guard Auxiliary 1203 at Pt. Allerton in hull. Verdi was like my drill instructor at the Marine corp camp in South Caroline. I felt like I was at boot camp , and yet there was a fun side to Verdi when it came to Coast Guard work always ready to his job. Then there was a time you look at Verdi and you could see in his face how he loved his Family and his Wife and his Country. I will miss him but I will remember Verdi next year while...

Verdi was a mentor to many United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and Active Duty personnel alike! As a watchstander at USCG STA PT. ALLERTON, Verdi was a dedicated and constant presence giving up of his time to serve and train the newest active duty coasties! Verdi Dodds was a long-time family friend, thanks to the U.S. Coast Guard. His daughter Shirley was the babysitter back when my husband Scott & his siblings Michael, Mark & Lisa were kids in Massachusetts! Verdi's wisdom spoke volumes, and his historical tales - powerful. Verdi, you're now with your beautiful Ingrid, the original war bride. We'll miss you. We miss you both.
