Verdon R. Skipper BORDENTOWN - Verdon R. Skipper, 80, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Capital Health System-Fuld Campus, with his family by his side. Born in Frostproof, FL. he had lived in Bordentown Township for over 32 years before moving to Burlington Township. "Skipper" developed Pine View Terrace, manufactured housing community, 51 years ago. He was the founding father of the New Jersey Manufactured Housing Association and was instrumental in raising funds for the Scottish Rite Masonic Children's Learning Centers. "Skipper" was a member and Past Master of Mt. Moriah Lodge #28 F&AM, an active member and Deputy of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, the Crescent Shrine Temple (AAONMS) and the Jesters, was a 33 degree Master Mason and was a Past Grand Pursuivant of the Grand Lodge of NJ. "Skipper" was well respected and will be deeply missed. Beloved husband of the late Joyce E. Skipper, he is survived by his daughters: Cheryl Lynn Skipper of Appomattox, VA, and Debra Ann Skipper of Bordentown, NJ; and his brothers: Leroy Skipper and his wife Shirley and Norman Skipper and his wife Judy all of Ft. Meade, FL, grandchildren: Jill A Skipper, Chad P Lydon and J.J Lewis. A Memorial Service celebrating "Skipper's" life will be held Friday, April 25 at the Masonic Home Chapel, 902 Jacksonville Rd, Burlington, NJ. Masonic Services will begin at noon. Friends may call from 11 am until time of service at the Chapel. The family requests memorial contributions be made instead of flowers to the Children's Dyslexia Learning Centers of New Jersey, 103 Dunns Mill Road, Bordentown, NJ 08505. Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Bordentown.

The last time we saw Skip was at Treva's funeral. Needless to say, it was wonderful to see and speak with him.

The Children's Dyslexia Centers of New Jersey remains the strong program it is today largely because of Skip. It was our privilege to work with him. Currently, there are 80 teachers who are learning to teach children with dyslexia learn to read and who are bringing hope to the families of the 160 children they are serving this year in our Centers. Over 500 teachers have been trained in New Jersey and they each instruct at least 15 children a year – Skip leaves quite a legacy. Skip's wonderful...

Debbie Im so sad. I have known your father for 52 yrs. he guided me to a wonderful time in our Mobile Home Parks. we were the best of friends i went to his raising in the LODGE. And so many other things our wonderful trips to Maui our fishing trips . I will miss him so much it hurts. God Bless you and your family.
