Vern A. Utterberg, 94, of Hobart, passed away January 8, 2016. He was born on August, 30, 1921 to the late John and Halsie Utterberg. Vern was a farmer and a factory worker at Rockwell International. Vern spent time collecting coins and enjoyed doing word searches. Vern will be remembered as a loving uncle.
Vern is survived by nephew, Jim (Sandy) Bowman of Hobart; two nieces, Pat Harrigan of Valparaiso, Kathy(Rick) Uzzle of Ohio and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Vern is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Bowman.
A funeral service for Vern will take place Wednesday January 13, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, IN with Rev. Charles Strietelmeier officiating. Burial will be at Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer, IN. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 13, 2016 at 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Vern, you were the best uncle that anyone could have ever asked for. You were the most kind hearted man that liked to make people laugh. I will forever love and miss you! Rest in peace and one day we will meet again. I love you Vern!
