I mostly knew Vernard from his writings, which in my colleges years inspired and shaped my own expressions of Christian Faith. Vernard's passing, while certainly a sad and painful experience, is not tragic, for his legacy lives on in printed words, and in people transformed by those printed words. I pray the family find comfort in this season, as Vernard finds rest in the presence of our Lord

I became acquainted with Vernard at a lecture that he gave at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, where he presented some of the material from a new work, "Could the Church Have it All Wrong?". That work was never published in print, but he once wrote that he regarded it as his most important effort.
