I can't imagine our street on 28th place without Vernice. She grew up in the house we owned at 3323 and then moved across the street when she married. They lived across from our current house and loved working in their beautiful yard. I was amazed how she still handled things even after Al passed away. She was so proud of her family and had a remarkable outlook on life. I'm so glad I got to talk to her when I was back in Portland last July. An amazing lady and I will truly miss her...
