Not sure what to say?

Vernita is the only person I will strive to emulate. She was the epitome of who I want and need to be, not only as a queer, black, woman; but as a human being. Miss you Vee.

MY GAY GROUP, "LADIES WHO LUNCH" WAS ENCOURAGED BY VERNITA GRAY, SHE WAS THE GREATEST GAY RIGHTS ACTIVIST AND SHE MAKES ME PROUD TO BE A GAY WOMAN! I AM NO LONGER IN THE CLOSET BECAUSE OF VERNITA. ALL MY GIRLFRIENDS ARE GAY, WE ARE NO LONGER ASHAMED OR HIDING. GOD BLESS YOU VERNITA. LIZ BUSHEMI

To the Family of Ms.Vernita Gray.
I am very sorry for your loss.
May you find comfort from the words at
Psalms 86:5

Thank you Vernita for your pioneering spirit and activism that helped our community grow. I remember our days of collaboration when I worked at Horizions Community Services and our focus on youth and building cross cultural relationships across the Chicago community. Peace be with you always and with Pat, your family and extended family.

Rest in peace, Vernita. My thoughts are with all who loved her. I knew Vernita in the 80s from Mountain Moving Coffee House and our social circle of friends. She was always a bright spirit and light along the way. She still is.

Vernita was a very kind, loving person. My sister is very lucky to have had such a wonderful person in her life. We will miss you, Vernita. Rest in peace

Only knew you for a short time,Vernita, but always welcomed me just the same as a long-time friend.Peace be with you and your Family.
