My dad was not just a minster he was also a father. Not always an easy road to travel.Tto balance both those callings. I rememebr that family vacations were very important to him. At the time some of these vacations were not what I wanted to do. In hindsite I now know that they were so important to him because during the year his calling as a minister took up so much of his time that these month long vacations were one of the only times he could spend with us and truly have it be just our...

Pastor Luchies played an important role in my youth. I was 10 years old when he was pastor of the West Sayville Christian Reformed Church and have a lot of fond memories of him and his family. My favorite was his attention to the environment ...even before it was "in". He owned a 2 cylinder honda that was basically a motorcycle with four wheels....great guy, glad he lived a full and rich life here on earth. I look forward to reuniting with him in heaven someday :)

Vern & Wilma were the best people to have in my life. They would do anything for you. One of my best memories of Vern was when his wife needed some milk from the store & Vern rode his bicycle to the store when he could of asked me to take him. He was 80yrs old at the time. He did not want to be a buruden to anyone. He just wanted to help out as many people as he could. They were both good people & will be greatly missed!!

I remember visiting Rev.Luchies with may folks when I was a child. I remember Vern and his wife living in a chicken coop shortly after they got married.
