Not sure what to say?

I had the blessing of working with Vern in our younger years. He was a talented architect and loved life in abundant ways. I have always remembered and valued our relationship. I remember Mary as well as both a friend and Vern´s helpmate. They truly provided joy whenever we visited. Blessings to his family.

It was my honor to have worked with Vern on the great GVSU buildings he brought to life. I don't know how many trips we took together to Lansing regarding those projects....I will always remember those road conversations. He was a first class person....what a privilege to have known him.

I´ll never forget sitting on the floor of my living room with my late husband and Vern, dreaming and designing our dream home over 30 years ago. Still today a pride and joy and truly a gift that Vern gave to Richard and I. Grateful for his talent and his friendship. RIP

Such a wonderful man, boss and great friend. Rest in peace, Vern!

I had the pleasure of working with Vern at Design Plus. My condolences to the family on the loss of a wonderful man.

Such great memories of a very good and kind man, Rest in peace Uncle Vern Ralph and Sheryl Haynes

I was lucky to have Vern as my mentor for 5 years! He was a great architect.

Memories of Vern and Mary When we heard the news that Vern was gone last week, we felt a wave of sadness that someone with such a good heart had left us. We always experienced Vern as a kind, good natured, intelligent, and creative person. He will be missed. Vern started working with me professionally on the design of gas stations and convenience stores 50 years ago. I remember his patience as we would talk about different site plans. If something didn´t seem to fit, he would pull out...

The academic spaces he designed for Grand Valley set both campuses apart as truly beautiful, inviting and highly functional. He was a visionary professional, and a delight to be with - on his own and with Mary. May he now enjoy perpetual joy and peace.
